UPFA Western Provincial Councillor Hirunika Premachandra on Monday revealed a fact about her political career that she had not revealed to the public before.

She made this revelation while addressing the third year commemoration of her late father.

A group including politicians attended this function which was held near the statue of late Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra In Kolonnawa.

Hirunika Premachandra addressed the gathering after laying floral tributes before the statue.

UPFA Councillor of WPC, Hirunika Premachandra expressed the following views:
I am not speaking as a politician today, I am speaking as a daughter who lost her father. When I was to contest, many individuals told me to go meet Chairman Prasanna because he is the one who has the votes of Kotikawatte and Mulleriyawa. But my mother said not to go. It was when my father went to inquire into why Prasanna brother’s wife was harassed, that he was murdered. She said, he should be the one to come and offer his help because it was because of him that I lost my father.

Then I told my mother that he must be waiting until we come and ask for his help. Thereafter, I went to chairman Prasanna along with my mother and a large group. We asked for help. He promised to help. Thereafter, the election campaigning commenced. Then I started getting calls from various locations. They accused me that I am not like my father as I give false promises and don’t attend meetings. They asked me why I avoid meetings. In truth, I didn’t even know of these meetings.

Then I found out that some have organised meetings saying that I would be attending to make sure that there are people at these meetings. When there are people I am not informed of the meetings. Finally people blame me. I need to say this because I never avoided people.
