Asian Games closing ceremony held under auspices of South Korean PM

The 17 Asian Games in Incheon South Korea concluded on Saturday with China named the overall champions after clinching a total 151 gold medals.

The closing ceremony of the 17th Asian Games which witnessed the participation of nearly 14,000 athletes compete, was held under the auspices of South Korean Prime Minister Jung Hong-won.

While China won 151 gold medals to claim the top spot on the medal tally; South Korea and Japan were placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. Sri Lanka who were placed 27th were unable to clinch any medal in the track and field events.

However, Sri Lanka won the gold in the Men’s cricket event while the Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket team won bronze in the Women’s cricket event.

Chairman of the Asian Olympic Committee Sheikh Ahmad Al Shahad Al Sabar handed over the Asian Games torch and flag to the Indonesian delegation, the hosts of the 2018 Asian Games.
