Ratnapura woman subjected to alleged police assault demands compensation

The woman who was assaulted by a police officer in the Ratnapura area states that her mother was arrested and later remanded.

She made this announcement to the media subsequent to filing a Fundamental Rights petition in the Supreme Court.

Filing a fundamental rights petition in the Supreme Court W.A. Kanthi demanded for compensation amounting to Rs.50 million from the Sri Lanka Police.

The OIC of the Ratnapura Police, the SSP of Ratnapura , the Police Media Spokesperson and Inspector General of Police were listed as the respondents in the case.
