UPFA Western Provincial Councilor Hirunika Premachandra attended an event organised at the Rajasinghe National School in Kotikawatte. The programme was the second phase of the initiative to raise awareness amongst students on the prevention of drug use in the Kolonnawa Electorate.
Hirunika Premachandra expressed these views;
I had to choose between two paths after my father was killed. My mother said that we could go abroad and live in disguise. She said she would not support what I was doing. She was afraid that something would happen to me. She was afraid that I would fight back. Because of that struggle, nothing bad has happened to me. I was loved by everyone in the Colombo District and I came in first from the district. Some people are engaged in the drug trade. You might have heard the story of the hare and the tortoise. When the hare is carrying out the drug trade expeditiously , I am going from door to door , school to school like the tortoise. I gather the students around and teach them something. I send something to your minds. I believe that I can change the trade that brings out dark thoughts in you .
