R. Sampanthan spoke to News1st following the coordinating meeting which was held at the Parliament Complex.
We discussed the facts regarding the investigation conducted by the United Nations to come a political solution in the country and how the party could come up to a position where it will be accepted as a powerful party not only within the country, but also internationally. For this, we need to create unity amongst the Tamil communities. The need has also risen for us to come to an agreement with our Muslim brothers. We also discussed the need for the formation of a common council for the sake of the Tamil-speaking people. We expect that whoever is able will render their support for this. We took a decision to carry out further discussions over this matter.
