Video footage of Hali-Ela incident to be used in police investigations

The Police Media Unit said that measures have been thus far taken by the police to prevent post election violence and breach of law and order.

Police Media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that 8000 additional police officers have been deployed for the next four days.

Meanwhile, incidents relating to election violence were reported in several areas yesterday.

A clash broke out between a group of UPFA and UNP supporters in Hali-Ela Badulla on Monday.

The Police Media Unit said that four vehicles were damaged following the incident.

News 1st correspondent Chandana Kuruppuarachchi,who sustained severe injuries while attempting to cover the altercation has been hospitalised.

Police state that the perpetrators will be identified via video footage obtained on the incident.
