A delegation from India’s ruling Bharatiya Janatha Party, who visited Sri Lanka for the Eighth General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties, met with the leadership of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress on Sunday.
The meeting between the BJP delegation led by National General Secretary Muralidhar Rao and the SLMC Leadership, was held at the SLMC Headquarters Darussalam on Sunday evening.
National General Secretary of BJP, M. Muralidhar Rao expressed these views:
India, as all of Sri Lankans are aware, is committed to a united Sri Lanka principle with devolved powers to the provinces and different tiers. We have always been saying that terrorism is finished and it should be, and we have been always supporting the Sri Lankan government in that context. But it should not be taken that the fight against terrorism is over, does not mean that the problem is resolved completely. The resolution of the problem is yet to be achieved.
Leader of SLMC, Minister Rauff Hakeem shared these views following the meeting;
He emphasized on having any of their prescriptions imposed on Sri Lanka but for Sri Lanka to implement the undertakings and promises that have been made by the Sri Lankan administration when it comes to lasting solution to the ethnic problem.
