A man was killed in a shooting in Angulana on Saturday.

Police say the shooting was carried out by two men on a motorcycle at about 12:30 on Saturday afternoon, following which the duo had fled the scene.

Police say that the shooting was carried out by two masked men wearing helmets, near the Angulana Temple on Station Road, Angulana.

The victim who was critically injured in the shooting died shortly after admission to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital.

The victim has been identified as thirty-five-year-old Srimal Perera, a resident of Moratuwa.

No information has come to light as yet regarding the reason for the shooting or the identity of the perpetrators. Police are carrying out further investigations.
