The waters of the Hatton Oya turned milky white on Friday much to the surprise of residents living on the banks of the Oya.

The cause of the change in colour was later revealed to be the disposal of spoilt milk from an estate in close proximity to the Hatton Oya. Hatton Oya is a branch of the Mahaweli River.

People residing in close proximity to the area were unable to use the water of the Oya as a result of this incident and were severely inconvenienced.
