The 55th Commemoration of Kopay Komman Vanniasingham, a founding member of the Illankai Tamil Arasu Katchi was marked today.

The event was held at the Thirunelveli Women’s Rural Development Hall.

Chief Minister of Northern Province, C.V. Wigneswaran expressed these following views:
Several days ago, Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa expressed negative views about me. He said that since the Chief Minister of the Northern Province is creating problems with them, it has become difficult to take forward their development programme for the Northern Province. He said that if the government’s projects are to move ahead, the Urban Councils and the Provincial Councils all need to work together with the Urban Development Authority. His brother too arrived here and expressed the same sentiment. I ask both of them this question. Money for the development did not arrive from Hambantota. When the two brothers arrived here, they did not bring funds from America. Those are foreign currency. We obtain monetary aid from foreign nations. We can spend that money to complete the projects. If the state institutions, provincial council officials and these two brothers do not give us anything , we will ask for funds directly. They have promised to give us funds………………………………….
