British Deputy High Commissioner Laura Davies visited Trincomalee on Friday as a part of her visit to the east of the country.

During her visit she called on the Chief Minister of the Province Najib A. Majeed.

The Deputy British High Commissioner and the Chief Minister discussed matters on a number of topics including tourist arrivals to the province.

British Deputy High Commissioner, Laura Davies expressed the following views:
I was delighted to hear that tourism is doing very well in Trincomalee. I had very productive conversations with the police and hotel owners, and hospitals there so that we can give good advice to British nationals. British nationals make up the second largest tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka. I think it is good news for Sri Lanka that there are more and more British nationals coming here on holiday.
