Repair work on the main water line from the Ambatale Water Purification Centre has been completed.

However, regular water supplies to Colombo and their suburbs are yet to be restored.

The breakdown had occurred near the Polduwa bridge in Battaramulla. This water main carries 5700 cubic metres of water to several areas in Colombo per hour.

Incidentally, the water supply to these areas was disrupted for 62 hours a few weeks ago owing to maintenance work on this pipeline.
