Special parade to commemorate Anagarika Dharmapala begins

A special vehicle parade got underway on Sunday morning in line with the 150th commemoration of Sri Lankan Buddhist revivalist and writer Anagarika Dharmapala who rendered a yeomen service to Buddhism and the nation.

The parade will travel across the country through a number of districts till the 17th of this month reviving memories of the services rendered by Anagarika Dharmapala. This parade is a joint initiative of the Sri Lanka Maha Bodhi Society and News1st

The Anagarika Dharmapala vehicle parade commenced from the Maligakanda Agrashrawaka MahaViharaya in Maradana.The ‘Sobana Maligawa’ (සෝබන මාලිගාව) vehicle used by Anagarika Dharmapala in spreading his message across the country will be showcased during this vehicle parade.

The vehicle parade which began from the headquarters of the Sri Lanka Maha Bodhi Society will reach the Sama Viharaya in Anuradhapura on Tuesday.

The parade will reach the Sri Bodhirukkarama Viharaya in Dambulla.
