An ice rain or hail has poured down on the Galapitagala area in Ampara, where a severe drought has been persistent in recent times.

Our reporter in the area said that the hail had started to fall at around 2.00 p.m. Sunday.Thereafter it had continued to rain for about fifteen to twenty minutes.
