Investigations launched into Moneragala sword-brandishing incident: Police

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana noted that an investigation has been launched into an incident where a area politician was seen brandishing a sword opposite the Moneragala Hospital.

We are certain that many people all over the world have witnessed this footage by now.
The Police Media Spokesperson informed us that many individuals informed the police about the local politicians who was seen in the Moneragala town with an unsheathed sword.

Lawyers point out that prompt investigations should be launched into such incidents.
On Thursday, the police stated that an individual lodged a complaint stating that Moneragala Pradeshiya Sabha Member Sanath Priyapema had insulted him and the former chief minister.

They said Pradeshiya Sabha members operate a shop opposite the Moneragala Hospital.
Meanwhile, five individuals arrested in connection to a clash between two group of UNP supporters which took place on Wednesday were released on bail on Friday.

Individuals believed to be supporters of UNP Uva Provincial Council Candidate Tissa Kuttiarachchi has assaulted another group of UNPers and the son of UNP Candidate Sampath Jayasuriya was injured in the assault.
