Chairman of SriLankan Airlines, Nishantha Wickremesinghe states that steps are being taken to reflect SriLankan Airlines with brand new aircraft.
He made this statement during a media briefing held in Colombo to announce his appointment as the Chairman of Asia Pacific on board travel or APOT.Asia .
Sri Lanka prepares to welcome 2.5 million visitors by 2016 and the way we are going now with the process, I am confident it will much more than 2.5 million. We have a long and short term plan for fleet updates in SriLankam Airlines. The first brand new A 3D- 300 Aircraft will join our fleet in a few weeks time. Long term, we have a fleet of next generation aircraft including the Airbus 350-900 and a progressive replacement over a period of ten years. We are an aging fleet. So this was taken to reflect with brand new air crafts. So the fleet that comes in with current entertainment systems, the business class will be bigger, large number of seats, and it will be more cosy inside, and the ambiance of the aircraft will be different. We are going to be current on the product that we have so that we can compete with Middle East airlines that are growing very fast and South East Asian Far East airlines.
