Country Head of the IMF in Sri Lanka and Maldives Eteri Kvintradze states that Sri Lanka is ahead of the game compared to other countries in South Asia in resolving infrastructure bottle necks.
She made this statement during the Annual General Meeting of the Industrial Association of Sri Lanka in Colombo on Friday.
We think that Sri Lanka is uniquely positioned to take advantage of changing global balance. The global engine of growth is being measured and Sri Lanka is strategically situated as a cross roads of the world’s dynamic region. Sri Lanka is ahead of the game compared to other countries in South Asia in resolving infrastructure bottle necks putting forward modern road and port infrastructure systems we look into post war and transition process and economic development we could say that the first phase of scaling up has been implementing by putting in place hard infrastructure. This is certified for lifting the economy to a new development path. Now it’s time to move to the second phase. Second phase could strategically focus on building soft infrastructure systems such as predictable regulatory tax environment, skills and human resources to take full advantage to new realities.
