One person was killed in a wasp attack in the Bogahawatte area in Hatton. Twelve  members of the same family were attacked by wasps when they attended a Pooja at a Kovil in an area belonging to the Dimbulapathana Police Division.

Our correspondent said that a large number wasp hives could be found in the area. The victim has been identified as 59 year old and a father of three died. He died when a hive fell on him during the Pooja.

Eleven people who sustained injuries in the incident were admitted to the Kotagala District Hospital.
