The district court of Colombo issued an injunction order on Friday calling for a stop to the strike action launched by health workers in positions supplementary to medicine.
The order issued by judge Sujatha Alahapperuma calls on six trade unions to immediately halt the strike action. The injunction order will be in effect for a period of fourteen days.
The order was issued after taking into consideration a petition filed by Harshana de Silva who is a patient at the Colombo National Hospital. The petitioner points out that the strike action has inconvenienced the public as well as patients who are receiving treatment at hospitals around the country.
The injunction order was issued for a period of fourteen days and the judge ordered the respondents to appear before court on September 12.
