Fourteen-year-old drowns in the Parakrama Samudraya

A fourteen-year-old boy,  part of a group of devotees from Katugastota, has drowned while bathing in the Parakrama Samudraya.

Police lifeguards managed to save one of the two individuals who were drowning.

Though the victim was admitted to the Polonnaruwa Hospital for treatment, medical staff were unable to revive him.The deceased is reported to be a resident of the Yatiwawala area in Katugastota.

Meanwhile the body of the 15 year old boy who disappeared after being caught in a tide in the seas off  Tangalle washed up on the beach on Sunday morning.

The police said that three children were swept off by a tide last evening. One child was rescued by his father, while another drowned on Saturday.
