Veteran Actress Rebecca Nirmali passed away at 2 a.m. on Wednesday. She was forty nine years old at the time of her demise.

It was reported that Rebecca Nirmali was ill for a considerable period of time. She passed away at the Maharagama Cancer Hospital. Rebecca Nirmali, a mother of one, won the hearts of her fans with her potrayal of the character of Vedda Haminey.

Rebecca Nirmali was born in 1964 in Anuradhapura, where she completed her studies at Anuradhapura Chethiya Maha Vidyalaya. Rebecca stepped into the industry in 1987, playing the role of Vedha Haminey. She later displayed her talent in several other renowned teledramas and films.

She also a  contributed to the making of the teledrama Adara Sandawaniya which is aired on our sister channel Sirasa TV.

The veteran actress who had achieved success in the stage as well as on the screen has starred in almost 175 tele dramas and ten films. Rebecca has also potrayed immense talent in the fields film make-up, hand crafts and art.

Remains of the actress are placed in a private funeral parlour in Borella, and will be taken to the Kala Bhawana on Thursday.

The final rites for Rebecca Nirmali will be held on Thursday at the General Cemetery in Borella.
