Uva PC Elections: Unlawful propaganda activities on rise – CaFFE

Uva PC Elections: Unlawful propaganda activities on rise – CaFFE

Campaign for Free and Fair Elections or CaFFE which is an election monitoring body, states that unlawful election propaganda activities have increased in the run up to the Uva Provincial Council Elections.

Executive Director of CaFFE Keerthi Tennakoon noted that 16 such complaints have been received by them so far.

He stated that the majority of the complaints pertained to illegal propaganda activities.

We spoke to Police  Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana to inquire as to the measures being taken by the Sri Lanka Police,  in this regard.

SSP Rohana expressed the following views: “In the run up to the Uva Provincial Council Elections, there have been various incidents of pre-election violence, cases of illegal propaganda activities taking place.”
