Six motor accidents that took place in different parts of the country have claimed the lived of three persons.
Four persons who sustained injuries are receiving treatment in hospital.
One accident that took place at 6:30 a.m.on Tuesday, August 5 in the Batatha area in Hungama, claimed the life of one person. The accident was a result of a collision between a bus traveling from Galewela to Kataragama and a motorbike plying from Kataragama to Matara. According to our correspondent, two persons had been traveling in the motorbike and the driver died as a result of the accident. The female pillion rider who sustained injures was rushed to the Ranna Hospital and was later transferred to the Tangalle Base Hospital. Locals say the location of the accident is a dangerous bend prone to accidents.
An individual who sustained serious injuries in an accident in Pandulagama on the Anuradhapura-Puttlam main road at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, August 4, succumbed to his injuries upon admission to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital. The accident was a result of head on collision between two motorbikes. This rider of one motorbike is a female and the rider of the other motorbike was the deceased.
One person was injured when tow tipper trucks collided at 8 p.m. on Monday, August 4 in Galkulama on the Anuradhapura Kandy road. Our correspondent said that two tipper trucks transporting coal had collided resulting in the accident.
