Water cut to hit Colombo and surrounding areas

‘The National Water Supply and Drainage Board notes that the water supply to Colombo and its surrounding areas will be suspended for 36 hours from 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 2.

The water cut will be in effect in the Kotte municipality as well as the Battaramulla, Malambe, Thalangama, Koswatta, Kalapaluwawa, Halbarawa, Thalawathugoda, Kalalgoda, Hokandara, Jayawadanagama and surrounding areas.

The water cut will also be effect in the Maharagama, Boralesgamuwa and Kesbewa urban council areas.

The board notes that the water cut, which will come into effect at 9 a.m. on August 2 will also be enforced in the Colombo 5 area, the stretch between the railway junction on Highlevel Road to the Kiruplapona area, the baseline road from Kiruplapona to Borella and all surrounding by-roads.

The water supply to the Kynsey Road, Cotta Road, Castle Street will also be disrupted until 9 a.m. on August 3, while the Colombo 6 area will continue to receive water at a lower pressure .

According to the Water Supply and Drainage Board, the water cut will be enforced as new pipes are being lain near the Polduwa bridge in Battaramulla and they are due to be connected to the Kotte pumping station .
