The Consumer Affairs Authority raided a house in the Kandana area and discovered a stock of canned fish and canned soya meat which was unfit for human consumption. However, the Public Health Inspectors Union stated that the canned products were in fact ones which they had confiscated during earlier raids.
The Consumer Affairs Authority revealed on Tuesday July 22, that they took into custody 32,000 cans of fish and cooked soya meat which were unfit for human consumption from a house in Kandana. The officials of the authority estimated that the stock of food was worth Rs. 6.4 million.
The authority also stated that they would be taking steps to file charges against the owner of the food as well as an individuals connected to the discovery.
