After the news about the discovery of a haul of Heroin was aired at 7 p.m. on Sirasa TV, Hirunika Premachandra, UPFA western provincial councillor, spoke to News 1st.
“I am speaking after watching the 7 ‘o’ clock news on Sirasa TV. I am saddened — 100 kilogrammes is an amount which cannot be even imagined. Who are they trying to destroy? They are trying to destroy the youth of this country. Who imports and distributes drugs in the country? I said from the very beginning that the people involved in my father’s murder are also involved in this. I also said that my father was killed because he spoke out against drugs.”
She added: “We are sad that they are not taking any steps in this regard. We respectfully call on the government and the President to look into this. I am saying this with responsibility. We have proof as to who is distributing drugs in Kolonnawa and who they have direct ties to. The police should take steps to look into this. The President is someone who speaks for the welfare of the youth. We believe that he will inform the police and take the necessary action in this regard.”
