The Leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, Anura Kumara Dissanayake says the current rulers of the country have failed to pinpoint the true problem facing the Tamil people in the North.
MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake made these remarks at an event held in Vavuniya on Saturday.
“Is our problem the fact that there is no governance in the North? What is the problem facing the Tamil people in the North today? Is it the fact that they do not have separate government? No, that is Douglas’ problem. That is a problem faced by the Wigneswarans and Sampanthans. It is not the people’s problem. They are the ones who want a chair they can sit on. They are the ones who want major positions. That is not the problem facing the people.”
He added:
“What is the main problem facing the people living in this province today? It is the uncertainty that has been created about the future of their children. The main problem is education. We wish to tell you that under our government priority will be given to academics, health and sports. We will allocate the majority of funds to these sectors.”
