Rihanna has come under fire for writing ‘#FreePalestine’ on her Twitter account before deleting the post eight minutes later.

Her post, published on Tuesday morning, was retweeted 7,000 times in this short space of time, according to NY MAG.

She faced an explosive reaction from her followers, who questioned her decision to publicly support Palestinians in the Gaza Strip conflict.

Sources claim that Rihanna had “accidentally” tweeted the message after following a website link, and was unaware that the tweet had been posted until after the wave of replies.

“She deleted it because it was never meant to be tweeted. She didn’t even realise it was a tweet until she started hearing from her fans”, an anonymous friend of the singer told TMZ.
