Bhanuka Jayampathi of the Vidyarathana University College in Horana was crowned the Most Talented Player in the sports reality programme – Super Fighter.  Isanka Sanjaya of Vidyartha College Kandy was awarded the Most Popular Player.

Super Fighter was a joint initiative of MTV/MBC, Newsfirst and MAS Holdings.

One of the key objectives of Super Fighter was to introduce a Sri Lankan boxer who will be able to win Olympic gold for the country at the 2020 Olympic Games.

The grand finale of Super Fighter, the first reality sports programme, commenced at the Stein Studios in Ratmalana on Sunday.

The eight finalists in the four weight classes, received a raucous welcome as they arrived at Stein Studios on Sunday evening on the red carpet.

Group Director of M.A.S Holdings Dayan Gomez, Former Athlete Damayanthi Dharsha, Sri Lankan Cricketer T.M. Dilshan, Singer Nadini Premadasa and Veteran cricketer Kumar Sangakkara were present at the event as special guests.

Scholarships were presented to 20 talented boxers who took part in Super Fighter. Isanka Sanhaya of Vidyartha College Kandy faced Krishnamenon Sindujan of Royal College Colombo in the 49 kilogramme category.

Lasith Sandeepa Dassanayake of Kingswood College, Kandy, faced Buddhika Manaram of the Kalyani Pradeepa Institute in Delgoda in the 52 kilogramme category.

Bhanuka Jayampathi of the Vidyarathana University College in Horana, faced Nuwan Kumara Amarawansa of Peradeniya Central College, in the 56 kilogramme category.

Sandeepa Amarasinghe also of the Vidyarathana University College in Horana, faced Lakshan Liyanage of Ananda College, Colombo in the final bout of the 60 kilogramme category.

Selecting of the winners was the highlight of the event in the Grand finale of Super Fighter which comprised of many colourful events.

Isanka Sanjaya of Vidyartha College Kandy emerged champion of the 49 kg weight class.

Buddika Manaram of the Kalyani Pradeepa Institute in Delgoda was the champion in the 52 kg category. Banuka Jayampathi of the Vidyarathana University College  in Horana was the champion of the 56 kg weight class.

Sandeepa Amarasinghe also of the Vidyarathana University college in Horana was the champion of the 60 kg weight class. Krishnamenon Sindujan of Royal College Colombo was the runner up and also the The Best Loser of the Super Fighter Sports Reality program in which over 1500 boxers took part.

Isanka Sanjaya of Vidyartha College Kandy was awarded the Most Popular Boxer of the Super Fighter sports reality programme via an SMS vote.
