Deputy Minister of Technology and Research Faizer Mustapha says that peace is being abused in Sri Lanka at present.

Speaking at an event held in Slave Island on Sunday, Mustapha had this to say,
War was won to give us peace. But today we see peace is being abused. Because today, we see society being divided. After the war everybody expected us to be one. Not to think of race and religion. But you see, through social media, through the media, through various propaganda, people are trying to distance all of us, and if that happens, we are not going forward, we are going back.
He further stated:

“To a certain extent I think politicians have failed, in that regard, so I think civil society has a greater responsibility to propagate secularism and also to stand up against ones and organisations who propagate racism.”
