Monsoonal wind speeds may strengthen – Met Department

According to the Met Department, monsoonal wind speeds may strengthen at times in the sea area around country.

The Met Department also states that this strong windy condition will be reduced, to a certain extent by Monday but the monsoonal winds will continue. Showers will occur at several places over the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Galle.

Winds will be Southwesterly and the speed will be 30-40 kmph. The Met Department said that the winds can strengthen up to 50-60kmph at times. Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant as deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Colombo and Galle and Eastern deep sea areas will be very rough at times as the winds speed can strengthen upto 70-80kmph at times.
