The United Arab Emirates has lifted a trade ban on Sri Lankan chicken and eggs entering the UAE market with immediate effect.

A blanket ban had previously been imposed on the importation of chicken meat and eggs from Asian countries, including Sri Lanka, due to Notifiable Avian Influenza or NIA.

However, the ban was lifted on Sri Lanka following a presentation made by Sri Lanka to the Animal and Agricultural Affairs of the UAE Ministry of Water and Environment to lift the ban, highlighting that Sri Lanka is now free of Avian Influenza.
