Palitha Thewarapperuma says that he will resign from his post as a UNP MP. The parliamentarian stated that he will hand in his letter of resignation to the party leader on Tuesday.
The parliamentarian states that he took this decision as the police has not yet conducted a proper investigation into the incident in Aluthgama.
He expressed the following views:
“The curse of allowing an unwanted meeting to take place on the 15th of last month in Aluthgama, Beruwala and Dharga town is now being felt by the people. The Sri Lanka police is vested with protecting law and order in the country however they failed to do this. I will hand in my letter of resignation to my leader tomorrow. I am a man of my word.”
