According to the Department of Meteorology, southwest monsoonal winds across the country may increase in speed, particularly along the western slopes of the central hills.

Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces and may also spread to the Northwestern Province.

The Met Department said that thundershowers may develop at several places elsewhere during the afternoon or evening and they can be accompanied by temporary localized strong winds.

The Met Department has asked the general public to take adequate precautions in order to minimize the damages caused by lightning.
