The body of an individual who was brutally murdered has been found in Pitiyapara, Karawanella.

According to the police the murder was allegedly committed on  Thursday morning.

The Police Media spokesperson’s office said the victim was found near a construction site in the area. Police added that a tip off received on the Police Hotline number 1-1-9 at around 1:10 a.m. Thursday regarding the murder.

No arrests have been made as yet in connection with the incident.  The magisterial inquest was carried out on Thursday morning and the Ruwanwella police have commenced further investigations into the murder.
