External Affairs Ministry issues Iraq travel warning

The Sri Lanka External Affairs Ministry has issued a travel warning on Iraq in the wake of the situation that has arisen there.

The ministry also requested all Sri Lankans presently in Iraq, to correspond with the Sri Lanka Embassy and obtain advice on the situation there.

The External Affairs Ministry noted that the Sri Lanka embassy can be contacted via telephone number 009647704847458 or the email address [email protected]

Speaking to News1st, Sri Lankan Ambassador to Iraq Suminth Nakalanda stated that as per his knowledge there was no threat to Sri Lankans residing in the country.

The ambassador however noted that the embassy was closely monitoring the situation in Iraq.
