Nine schools in Beruwela and Aluthgama to remain closed

Prasanna Ranatunga, chief minister of the Western Province, says that nine schools in the Aluthgama and Beruwela police divisions will remain closed until further notice.

He added that several other schools in the area will reopen on Monday.

Accordingly, Aluthgama Maha Vidyalaya; Sri Gnanissara Mahavidyalaya; DS Senanayake Mahavidyalaya; Beruwela Roman Catholic College; and Kaluwa-Modara Primary School will remain closed until further notice.

Cheif Miinister Ranatunga added that Al-Hummeisara Maha Vidyalaya, Zahira College, and Samsudeen Muslim College will also remain closed until further notice.

He noted that security personnel and persons affected by the recent riots in the area are currently seeking refuge at these schools.
