United National Party Parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa convened a media briefing on Saturday.
At this briefing, Sajith Premadasa shared the following views:
“The government has to intervene to put a stop to the activities being carried out by extremist groups to destroy the country. They should be brought to book regardless of their status or religious affinity. This government which brought an end to a thirty-year conflict must take immediate measures to destroy the extremist terrorism within the country and bring these traitors before the law. If this does not happen this country will become a volcano.
This is a good opportunity for the government to prove that they do not have any ties with any disgraceful extremists. They can show it by not merely limiting it to words and by bringing all these extremists before the law and punishing the perpetrators severely. Through this the government will directly intervene in fostering brotherhood, peace and reconciliation.
The image portrayed to the world is that a majority of the country are prone to violence, this is a shame on all Sinhala Buddhists. So, I once again, ask that the President put a full stop to this extremism that is taking place within this country by taking strict security measures.”
