Aluthgama – Beruwala Incidents: Special investigative teams assigned

Police Headquarters says that five special investigative teams have been assigned to carry out investigations on the incidents which occurred recently in Welipenna, Beruwala and Aluthgama.

Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that the Colombo Crimes Division and the Crimes Investigations Department are also among these teams.

The Police Media Spokesperson said that 10, 000 police officers and special task force officers have been assigned for security in the area.

Furthermore, SSP Ajith Rohana said that 58 individuals have been arrested in connection with these incidents.

Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission Dr. Prathibha Mahanamahewa said that they have commenced an investigation  on the recent incidents which occurred in Aluthgama and Beruwala.
