President Mahinda Rakapaksa says Sri Lanka can overcome the obstacles, which include external forces on the country, noting that the situation in countries that faced foreign interventions is worse now than ever before.

The president expressed these views during bilateral discussions held with Namibian Prime Minister Hage Geingob.

The Presidential Media Unit said President Rajapaksa met with the Namibian Prime Minister during the fiftieth G-77 summit in Bolivia.

The president said the government has held provincial elections for the Northern Province and has also appointed a commission for national reconciliation.

The Presidential Media Unit added President Rajapaksa has affirmed that while the people of the country enjoy peace, there is discord being spread by some politicians and enemy forces.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to address the G-77 summit on Sunday.
