Three employees of the Dehiwala zoo who attempted to smuggle three snakes out of the facility without the requisite permission have been suspended.

Director of the National Zoological Department, Anura De Silva said that the two employees had smuggled a cobra, a viper and a sand viper out of the facility for an education programme.

The Director of the Department noted that a special investigation has commenced into the incident.
