News1st U-Reporters in the news – new batch widens network

News1st which commenced U- Report to develop citizen  journalism in Sri Lanka has become an overwhelming  success .

The countrywide U-Reporter network, contributes instant reports to the news desk, inline with the vision of  U-Report. Another group of News First U-Reporters were enrolled  into the citizen journalism initiative subsequent to a  workshop held in Colombo on Saturday morning.

The group hailing from different parts of the country arrived for the workshop that took place at the  auditorium of the Capital Maharaja Organisation  Limited.

The News1st team, explained to the participants as to  what citizen journalism is and how they can get involved. They were also briefed on new media techniques.

Subsequently, members of the News1st staff guided  the new U-Reporters through the processes followed at  News1st
