The Colombo District Court issued an enjoining order on Friday preventing, Dr. Sapumal Dhanapala, a member of the Board of Governors of Trinity College, Kandy, who was appointed to the board by the school’s staff guild, from continuing to function in that position.
President’s Counsel Faiz Mustapha and Attorneys-at-Law Isuru Balapatabendi, Navoda Wijeyratne and Pulasthi Rupasinghe appeared for the plaintiff, another member of the Board of Governors, at the Colombo District Court today in this case.
While Dr. Dhanapala was appointed as a member of the Board of Governors of Trinity College Kandy recently, by members of the tutorial staff; a member of the board of governors filed action seeking an injunction restraining Dr. Dhanapala from acting in the Board of Governors as he does not possess the necessary qualifications under the constitution of the board of governors and according to the Staff Guild Operational Manual, to become a member of the Board of Governors of Trinity College, Kandy.
Counsel for the plaintiff, Attorney-at-Law Pulasthi Rupasinghe said that the Colombo District Court issued an injunction order on Friday preventing this member, from continuing to function on the board of governors.
Court also granted Notice of interim injunction on all parties.
The matter will be called again on June 13.
