UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake says that Sri Lanka can no longer fool India, now that Narendra Modi is to take over as prime minister of India.

The parliamentarian shared these views during an event held in Kandy on Saturday.

“It is a good sign that Narendra Modi invited the Sri Lankan President. He in turn invited the Chief Minister of the Northern Province. Our President has a habit of taking a plane load of people with him whenever he is invited. The period where they were able to fool the Indians has come to an end.”

“Narendra Modi is not a leader who can be fooled, unlike Manmohan Singh. He has many years of political experience and he does not need to act according to the wants of others. However, looking at his parliamentary majority and the way in which he has taken decisions previously, we see that more work needs to be done to solve the issues in our country. Else the repercussions could be dangerous. We wish to warn the government about this as well.”
