Sacred hair relic of Lord Buddha reaches Aluth Nuwara; on the way to Sirasa Vesak Zone

The sacred hair relic of the Lord Buddha and the relics of his disciples that are journeying from the Yatihalagala Raja Maha Viharaya to the Sirasa Vesak Zone in Colombo, reached the historic Dedimunda Devalaya in Aluth Nuwara on Sunday.

Devotees will be able to pay homage to the relics at the Devalaya  until midnight on Sunday.

The Sirasa Vesak Zone where the sacred hair relic, the sacred relics of Saripuththa and Mogallana and the relics of the disciples of Lord Buddha will be on display is sponsored by John Keells Holdings.

The Sirasa Vesak Zone is also supported by S-Lon Lanka Private Limited.

The sacred hair relic and the relics of the disciples which were housed at the Yatihalagala Raja Maha Viharaya in Kandy, were placed in the vehicle for the journey to the Sirasa Vesak Zone at the auspicious time of 9 a.m on  Sunday.

A large crowd gathered for religious observances conducted by the Maha Sangha prior to the commencement of the journey.

The Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter of the Siam sect, the Most Venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Thero, also gave his blessings for the journey of the relics.
