A fourteen-year-old resident of the Maharagama area was reported dead owing to Dengue earlier today.

The child’s mother said that her son was admitted to the Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital where she blames her son’s death on the negligence of the hospital staff.

When News1st contacted the Director of the Hospital, Dr. S.A.K. Gamage, he said that a nurse’s strike was ongoing at the time the patient was admitted to the hospital and doctors had advised the parents to take the child to a different hospital.

He added that it was the best course of action that could have been taken at the time of the incident.
