Police Headquarters says that they legal action will be taken against those whose action brings dis-respect to Buddhism in the Vesak Season.
Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that police officers have been issued with instructions in this regard.
The Department on Buddhist Affairs requests the public not to engage in activities or make Vesak decorations that brings disrespect to Buddhism.
Commissioner General on Buddhist Affairs Chandraprema Gamage said that certain groups create Vesak greeting cards and Buddhist flags using various methods whose altered nature brings dis-respect to Buddhism. He points out that this leaves a great scar on Buddhism.
