SL clinches five gold medals at Lions Cup International Boxing Tournament

Sri Lanka on Friday emerged champions of the Lions Cup International Boxing Tournament with five Gold Medals. News1st and the MTV / MBC Media Networks were the media partners of the tournament.

The Lions Cup International Boxing Tournament came to a close on Friday at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on Colombo. The final bout in the 46 kilogramme Light Welterweight category was between Sri Lanka’s Mohammed Dilshan and Kenya’s Denik Okuth.

The final result of the bout, was Gold to Mohammed Dilshan.

Meanwhile, the finals of the 60 kilogramme Light Weight category took place between two Sri Lankans, Dinidu Saparamadu and Anuradha Gunathilake.  Dinidu Saparamadu defeated his opponent to clinch gold.

Anurudha Rathnayake defeated Clarke Bautista of the Philippines in the finals of the 52 kilogramme Fly Weight category to win gold.

Meanwhile, M.M.Prabhashwara defeated E. Madushan to win gold in the 49 kilogramme Light Fly Weight category.

Anusha Kodithuwakku clinched Sri Lanka’s fifth Gold medal on Friday by defeating Sopida Sataram to win the Women Finals of the 51 kilogramme Fly Weight category.

Gold Winner of the 64 kilogramme Light Welterweight category Mohammed Dilshan was adjudged most talented boxer of the tournament. Anusha Kodituwakku the gold medal winner of the 51 kilogram women’s fly Weight category was adjudged the most talented female boxer of the tournament.

Incidentally, Sri Lanka emerged champions in the first event Lions Cup Boxing Tournament.
