A boy drowned in the sea off  Welipatanwila in Ambalantota on Thursday. Police stated that the deceased was a sixteen-year-old boy.

The deceased was identified as Malinga Dinesh Liyanarachchi, a resident of D.S. Senanayake Mawatha in Ambalantota.

The teenager was preparing to sit for his G.C.E. Ordinary Level examinations this year. Police stated that the body of the deceased will be handed over to his family after the postmortem examination.
