Nilendra Deshapriya’s “Thanha Rathi Ranga” wins international award

Thanha Rathi Ranga  which was directed by Nilendra Deshapriya won the award for the best film at the Saheb Phalke film awards.

This award was presented at the award ceremony which was held in New Delhi, India on Wednesday evening.

Thanha Rathi Ranga is a movie which depicts the lives of the people who suffered and were affected in the thirty- year long war in Sri Lanka.

The story revolves three friends who embark on an adventurous journey,  to a land of turmoil and terror.However, they are not aware that this journey towards their dreams will completely change their lives.

The award ceremony is held every year to celebrate the birthday of the founder of the Indian film industry Dadasaheb Phalke.

Anand L. Rai director of the movie Raanjhanaa claimed the accolade for the best director while Sanjaya Leela Bansali won the award for best music direction for the movie Ram-Leela.

The award for the best screenplay was presented to Suhash Kapoor for Jolly LLB .

The movie was also nominated at the the Chicago South African international film festival and Kerala International Film Festival and was highly commended by the Global film Initiative.
